The sold-out Platinum development at Zetland has set a new standard in urban design, Managing Director of PAYCE Consolidated Limited Brian Boyd said.

"This is one of the last pieces in the wonderful tapestry that is Zetland and it really does set a new standard," Mr Boyd said.

The fully sold-out complex – with its on-site health club complete with gym, spa, steam room and zen gardens is far cry from the original site uses.

The site has a colourful history – the lagoon and swamp on the site was drained in the early 1900s to create a racecourse that was privately owned and developed by Sir James John Joynton Smith who was a hotelier, racecourse and newspaper owner.

"When you look at the site today it is a far cry from its original uses including the car assembly plant which was there until the 1970s," Mr Boyd said.

Mr Boyd said the planning for the overall project was well thought out and residents will benefit from this into the future.

"There will be a lot more people living in an area that was once primarily industrial, but I think one of the great benefits of the site is that it is close to all amenities," Mr Boyd said

The final PAYCE development at Zetland – East Village will be the icing on the cake.

"East Village with its urban marketplace and marquee commercial tenants will be a key feature in the Zetland project," he said. "It really will give people the opportunity to live, shop and enjoy leisure time in close proximity to where they live," Mr Boyd said.
